26th October 09

Carte Blanche are thrilled to be celebrating as winners of 3 prestigious POPAI Awards 2009 announced at a special Awards Night held at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London on Thursday 22nd October 2009.
GOLD: Sports, Toys and Accessories, My Blue Nose Friends FSDU
SILVER: Stationery, Office Supplies, Financial and other Services, Me to You Softly Drawn Island End
SILVER: Display of the Year, Temporary, My Blue Nose Friends FSDU
The POPAI (Point Of Purchase Advertising International) Awards recognise excellence in the area of point-of-purchase, across a diverse range of industries, from travel to fashion, from telecoms to gifts. Entries were judged by a distinguished panel of independent industry professionals using specific criteria based on the effectiveness of the displays in increasing sales, securing retail placements and working strategically to position the brand at the point-of-purchase.
In the category of Sports, Toys & Accessories our innovative My Blue Nose Friends free standing display unit won GOLD, further defining the brand as a market leader with continuous consumer appeal. The display unit was the launch platform for a completely new brand of collectable characters, designed to simulate the wardrobe from the original My Blue Nose Friends animated story.
Judges’ comments: “This was the clear winner in the category and delivered an excellent P-O-P solution to a complex marketing brief. Overall, a very effective unit that delivered a unique proposition in-store.”
Also nominated in this category for 2009 were high-profile sports brands Nike who took silver and Callaway Top Flite who were placed Bronze.
Me to You Softly Drawn has proven to be another of our many success stories from the past year. Our unique island end display unit impressed judges enough to place it SILVER in the Stationery, Office Suppliers, Financial & Other Services category. The island end display was designed to present the Softly Drawn brand and products in the style of a gallery, reinforcing the premium positioning of this strong art-led product.
Judges’ comments: “This is a great example of what can be achieved when a good design is executed well in-store in conjunction with a good location. This design fits really well with this new collection of greetings cards and is brave in that it breaks with the traditional method of densely merchandising cards.”
Also nominated in this category for 2009 were well respected brands DHL who took Gold and Marks & Spencer who were placed Bronze.
Also announced on the night were the awards for Display of the Year, Temporary. From 22 categories, 53 nominees and 135 entries the My Blue Nose Friends FSDU was awarded SILVER. A truly prestigious award which places Carte Blanche at the forefront of P-O-P design and is testament to the in-house creative talent here at Carte Blanche.
